This Mavis Beacon program is a perfect example of FALSE ADVERTISING. I bought this program because it said on the product that I could learn to type in Spanish and that it had games with multiple levels of play, which I wanted to keep my kids(12,12, and 14) engaged in learning to type. The instructions for Spanish is only in English, so a Spanish-only speaker would be totally lost. There are NO MULTIPLE level games – not one.

La versión en español es excelente, tenía mis dudas en cuanto a la traducción; pero me impresionó. Lo recomiendo.

I’m giving this program two stars instead of one because I never got far enough to actually try the program. Although my laptop, a newer Dell running WinXP, met the system requirements and then some, the program kept opening as a black screen and saying that my graphics wouldn’t work & to change my settings or get a better video card. My video card *does* meet the published system requirements. I spent hours mucking with my graphics settings etc, and had no luck. I tried contacting the manufacturer and could not reach anyone. I am returning Mavis to Amazon but they won’t replace her (I was hoping that the disc is defective). Frustrating. I’m going to try another program instead of ordering this Mavis again; I just don’t want to deal with her. Broderbund needs to pay attention to its QC.

Bought this for someone else, who actually USED this and learned to type. Said it works well, looks forward to using rest of enclosed software.
