I beta tested Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 32 Bit and 64 Bit Editions during six months. Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate RC2 (Build 5744) was not reliable at all.
I expect that the RTM version to be even more slow, unefficient and user-unfriendly. In spite of five years of development, Microsoft have once again proven to be uncapable to release a decent OS.
I am currently using Red Hat Linuz, which almost free (40 bucks) and, hey, Linux never crashes and is better and faster than anything Microsoft could ever put out.

I own Vista Ultimate and the support you receive from Microsoft is exceptional; please do not purchase any other operating system because Vista Ultimate is what you truly want for security and ease of use. I know the price can make you consider buying one of their cheaper versions but cut back on something else and join the elite Vista Ultimate end user society. I truly love my Vista Ultimate “Geek Love for Vista Ultimate, Forever”.

Windows Vista copies heavily from Mac Os X. Basically it is Windows XP with a new look. It is not right to force the consumers to buy new hardware by making an OS run slower.

I figured I’d take some time out to help those concerned with purchasing this product and offer advice on a non technical level even though I can build PC’s and install any OS while blindfolded.
You’ll love this OS if your PC can handle it. Microsoft’s newest OS is a bit on the picky side when it comes to new hardware add in’s, but your average off the shelf PC will handle this nicely with Windows Areo running full effects.
Make sure you do your homework as this advanced OS needs a little time spent surfing on the web making sure your current hardware supports it if you’ve upgraded things such as your soundcard and videocard that is. If you’re like me and have a preconfigured system such as Gateway or Dell that’s a standard system built in 2006 and later, you should have no trouble with this OS as most of these systems come standard with Intel motherboards with integrated audio and video that vista supports right out of the box with its own drivers Once installed on my off the shelf PC, Vista had installed working drivers for all of my features on my intergrated motherboard such as the modem, sound, video and ethernet.
Installation :
When doing this, you’ll want to make sure you do a clean install by restarting your computer and putting in the Vista DVD. While it does give you the option to upgrade over your existing XP installation, I would not select this method because to be honest, after XP has been patched up more than Frankenstien over the years, you’ll more than likely encounter errors with this method. Do a clean install with this, it’s best to wipe the target install drive clean and let Vista manage it the way it wants because it does do it well.
If you have upgraded hardware in your PC such as a videocard, soundcard, or video capture hardware, take the time to go to each manafactures websites and read up on Vista driver compatability and download any updates they offer for your products, burn them to CD or better yet, put them onto a USB thumbdrive for easy retrival once Vista is up and running.
Insert long, boring install Window’s, serial number entries, reboots, and time zone settings segment here and let’s move on.
Post installation :
Once Vista shows the Desktop, don’t ohh and awe just yet, let’s get Vista updated with Windows Update. There’s a series of patches out for Vista, at last count, 18, far less than XP’s whopping 182 patches and 2 service packs.
Install ALL windows updates EXCEPT for all the language packs. Leave those for a long, long download and install process. Get all the driver updates and Vista security patchs, it’s not very long to do and keeps Vista running nice and safe. Nest, if you have drivers that need installed, now is the best time on a clean working system to install extra drivers.
ANTI VIRUS!!!
I refuse to get into the debate of which is best, Norton’s, Mcafee or PCCillian. Honestly, they all bog down Vista to a crawl and are the most completly hacked soultions out there for PC protection, so let’s pick the absolute best choice, Windows Live One Care.
When OneCare was released, it SKYROCKETED in sales and overtook BOTH Notrtons 360 and Mcafee that is changed the Anti Virus market forever.
It’s sales took 15% of the market in 3 months it’s had more of an impact on software more than anything is recent memory so this was my choice to protect my PC, it completely integrates with Vista and the best part, it’s the easiest most non intrusive, stable all in one product I’ve ever worked with.
This is the All in One soultion which includes, Anti Virus, Firewall, Phishing filters and PC Tune Up, which keeps your Vista running nice and fast.
I hope this helps some of you and puts a little shhh into the Vista haters, it’s replacing XP, hardware companies are building their products around it and nearly every Third Party hardware and software vendor has a Vista driver that works just fine.
Lastly, make sure you install the Vista Ultimate ONLY feature available from Windows Update, Windows Dreamscape, it’s a nice little Desktop Background option that plays mpeg video files as your Desktop background such as a looping video file of a stream, or a Bee on a flower, it’s a nice little touch.
Enjoy your new Vista Ultimate!

I don’t know what other people are complaining about. I just installed Vista Ultimate a few days ago and I absolutely love it. No interface lag or any other lag at all. Maybe the people complaining have weak or outdated hardware. Those people need to turn down their settings if their not going to keep their computers on the cutting edge or at least near it. I’m glad Microsoft isn’t waiting for people to catch up and are on the cutting edge. I’d rather be the one catching up than the other way around.
I have a Core 2 Duo e6300 overclocked to 2.5Ghz, 2 gigs of ram, a Geforce 7600gt and a Western Digital Raptor X 150g HD and Vista Ultimate works flawlessly on my computer. It’s not the best computer but it runs flawlessly, I built it myself and all the parts cost me about $850 off the net. I play World of Warcraft among some other games and I haven’t seen any problems yet with any games or any of the major software I use as of yet. I’ve only encountered one problem and that was with my old Soundblaster Live! 5.1 sound card which has discontinued support. No big deal, it was about time to get a better one anyway.
