It runs at least 4x the speed of an optimized Vista system. I personally use it on my dual core system, and couldn't imagine using Vista. In my opinion, this makes Microsoft's best OS and made it better. Granted it took too many updates and patches to make it so. I would highly recommend this over Vista Ultimate or any other 64-bit OS. It installed with ease and I was using Windows on my Mac within just a few minutes. I was glad too, that it didn't have any of that 'junk' software that one usually ends up deleting anyway. The only bummer I've run into was that I was rather attached to Windows Live Mail, which - come to find out after the fact - is NOT 64 bit compatible. I ended up liking Mail anyway, but am unable to import my mail from Live Mail at present. You might want to look into that before you upgrade to 64 bit.
